Friday Fun With Google Maps

Virgin Atlantic's In-Flight Google Maps
Virgin Atlantic have been using Google Maps on their planes for at least two years. However this is the first time I've seen this video of the maps in action.

Map of Rude Place Names
It seems that one of the most popular uses of Google's My Maps feature is to compile a map of rude sounding locations. Here's another one.

Google Maps Alphabet UK

Another popular past-time for Google Map's users is to compile alphabets of letters found in Google Maps Satellite imagery. Here's one of letters found only in the UK.

London Shop Fronts
If rude town names or satellite images that look like letters aren't your bag then perhaps you will prefer this Google Maps mashup of shop fronts. This map is one person's collection of photographs of the fronts of London shops. And why not?
