New York Smells

The Gothamist Maple Syrup Smell Map
Since 2005 New York has been sporadically hit by the mysterious smell of Maple Syrup. The Gothamist website has previously recorded five outbreaks of syrupy odours, in October 2005, March 2006, November 2006, November 2007, and May 2008. Now the pancake lovers' smell of choice has struck again and this time Gothamist is keen to map its sweet trail across the city.

The map is a Google My Map made from reports e-mailed to The Gothamist from its readers.

If you like the idea of mapping smells make sure you also check out the original smelly map Nioibu, which is from a Japanese site that allows users to map odours that they have encountered.
